Vườn Quốc gia Tràm Chim ở huyện Tam Nông, tỉnh Đồng Tháp - khu du lịch sinh thái đặc trưng của vùng Đồng Tháp Mười thu nhỏ đang là một trong những điểm đến lý tưởng của khách du lịch trong và ngoài nước.

Trên tổng diện tích hơn 7.000ha, vườn có 130 loài thực vật, thuộc 47 họ, với 6 kiểu quần xã đặc trưng, 231 loài chim nước trong đó có 32 loài quý hiếm, đặc biệt là sếu đầu đỏ.

Khu du lịch sinh thái ở Vườn quốc gia Tràm Chim từ lâu đã nổi tiếng là “ốc đảo xanh” với cảnh quan thiên nhiên quyến rũ, đặc trưng cho vùng đất trũng Đồng Tháp Mười. Nơi đây còn lưu giữ những đặc thù thiên nhiên của vùng Đồng Tháp Mười với rừng tràm có diện tích gần 3.000ha, tuổi thọ từ 10-18 năm.

Đến đây du khách sẽ ngợp mắt trước sân chim rộng hàng chục ha cùng nhiều loài chim muông bay rợp một góc trời.

Trên những vạt rừng rộng mênh mông, hàng chục loài chim nước sinh sống và làm tổ quanh năm như trích mồng đỏ, cồng cộc, le le, diệc, vịt trời..., nhiều hơn hết vẫn là đàn cò trắng hàng chục nghìn con. Rừng tràm này được xem là vườn cò lớn nhất hiện nay ở vùng Đồng Tháp Mười.

Đến đây vào mùa khô, du khách sẽ được tận mắt nhìn thấy những con sếu có chiều cao hơn 1,5m hoặc những loài diệc mộc, diệc lửa với sải cánh dài hơn 1m, những con nhạn điển với cái cổ thon dài...

Vào mùa nước nổi, nước từ sông Mekong tràn về ngập cánh đồng, biến Tràm Chim thành một ốc đảo giữa trời nước mênh mông, rực lên màu vàng hoa điên điển, màu tím hoa súng pha lẫn sắc hồng của những cánh sen, màu xanh mướt của rừng tràm…

Trên các cánh đồng, hàng chục nghìn cánh cò trắng điểm xuyết trên nền tràm xanh tươi tạo thành một khung cảnh rất ấn tượng.

Những câu thơ như "Quê tôi vừa đẹp vừa hay/Dưới sông cá lội, chim bay trên trời" quả thật không sai với vùng đất này.

Thủy sản ở đây vô cùng phong phú với nhiều loài cá như cá lóc, cá bông, cá sặc, cá chốt, cá lăng, cá bống, cá nhái..., đặc biệt, loài cá linh từ Biển Hồ Campuchia lũ lượt kéo về vào mùa nước lên.

Đến Vườn Quốc gia Tràm Chim, du khách có thể cảm nhận được sự thanh bình, yên ả nhưng cũng không kém phần độc đáo.
