Nơi đây được coi như một Sóc Trăng thu nhỏ, đặc biệt còn có một khu ẩm thực với nhiều món ăn bình dân nhưng rất dễ mê hoặc du khách. Từ mặt nước trong veo, giữa hồ nhô lên vài cụm bèo xanh xanh cùng với vài con cá vàng óng ả bơi lội nhởn nhơ, chẳng khác nào một khu vườn cổ tích.

   Trước mặt bạn là những con đường tráng nhựa phẳng phiu, mát rượi. Bên trái, bên phải là công viên, quán ăn, quán giải khát, siêu thị và hồ nước trong xanh,  thả hơn 70.000 con cá chép thật ấn tượng.

Công viên văn hóa hồ nước ngọt vừa là điểm vui chơi giải trí, vừa là nơi tổ chức nhiều sự kiện quan trọng của tỉnh như hội hoa đăng, hội chợ triển lãm và nhiều hoạt động văn hóa đặc sắc khác. Nơi đây còn được coi là lá phổi chính của thành phố Sóc Trăng nhờ mặt hồ rộng mêng mông và nhiều cây xanh, cây cảnh thật quý giá. Miền Tây ít có công viên nào rộng rãi và xanh đến thế!

 

   Du khách đến đây phần lớn để đi bách bộ, hóng gió và thưởng thức các món hương đồng cỏ nội. Đặc biệt nhiều người dân địa phương coi hồ nước ngọt như một dấu ấn kỷ niệm, nơi đã từng đi vào ký ức tuổi thơ của họ.  Trên mặt hồ rộng, thoáng mát, du khách thỏa sức bơi thuyền thư giãn.
